Job Title: Business Development/Sales Manager
Location: Lagos
Main Purpose of the Job
- To assess market growth opportunities, gather intelligence on customers and competitors, generate leads, market and drive the growth of assigned products to targeted customers.
- Coordinates the sales and marketing functions for the Organization
- Responsible for working with the team in developing and Implementing marketing strategies that meet agreed company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
- Provide input into the corporate strategy planning process
- Coordinates the execution of agreed and approved strategies.
- Works collaboratively with the Marketing Manager and the Management team around the strategic development of the company’s current and potential product and service lines.
- Works with Marketing Manager and Marketing unit to develop Marketing Strategy; product, pricing, promotion and placing
Market Research:
- Conducts market research and analysis of market performance of company products and identifies new markets.
- Tracks competitor activities and competitive environment; develops appropriate strategies to protect and enhance company’s market share
- Conduct market research in order to identify market requirements and conditions for current and future products and services.
- Research and Analyse potential strategic partner relationships for product lines.
- Evaluate customer research, market conditions, competitor data and implement marketing plan alterations as needed.
- Gathering intelligence on customers and the industry
Budget Management:
- Develop & justify annual sales budgets and targets
- Allocates budgets to team members
- Monitors and controls expenditure of the sales team within the agreed budget
- Budget management; To deliver all marketing activity within the agreed budget.

Business Development:
- Utilise available information to advise the business on new growth areas
- Oversee the development of all major marketing and client facing tools used by Organization
- Identify resource requirements, regulatory requirements, partnerships etc. required for launching a new business line or growing market share in current business lines
- Build relationship with partners and stakeholders relevant to ensuring growth and development of current and new business lines
- Develop business plans for new and existing business lines
- Manage prospective and new business lines from inception to launch
Sales Management:
- Responsible for entire sales cycle from lead generation to close
- Develop an annual sales plan detailing the year’s activities to meet agreed company objectives.
- Design and implement Sales Strategy
- Provide Direction and Supervision to the Sales & Sales Operations Team
- Manage Sales team to ensure roles, responsibilities and targets are efficiently distributed
- Set up supervisory and tracking mechanisms to ensure efficient monitoring of all sales leads and team member activities
- Responsible for the marketing and sales of ALL company products and services to its preferred market.
- Demonstrate technical marketing skills and company product knowledge
- Lead, supervise, guide, train and teach all business development, research and sales personnel in the Organization
- Work with the team to develop effective sales pipelines in line with identified categories/market segments
- Develop and implement effective business development initiatives to convert prospects into clients
- Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales
- Bidding & Proposal Writing, submission and follow up
- Aggressive sales effort
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships to foster retention and greater share of wallet.
Education/Certifications
- B.Sc/HND in any discipline; Social/Medical Sciences is an added advantage
- MBA in Marketing or any related field / similar qualification
- Travelling to other locations within the country will be required
Experience:
- At least 7 years in a Business Development /Sales Role in similar position and industry.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to analyze data and understand the implication of various options with the use of appropriate techniques
- The ability to apply understanding of the company & industry to improve effectiveness & profitability
