Background
- The Spotlight Initiative is a global partnership between the United Nations and the European Union to eliminate all forms of violence against women and girls and to support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Initiative provides a model for delivering on the SDG 5 in a comprehensive manner. One of its priority countries is Nigeria. Through a comprehensive approach, the Initiative aims to support a Nigeria where all women and girls, particularly the most vulnerable, live a life free from violence and harmful practices. Geographically the programme will support interventions at federal, state and community levels across 5+1 focus states.
- Since the beginning of the year, the Spotlight Initiative team has worked in close partnership with the EU, CSOs & the Government to kick-start the implementation of the programme. Inception workshops have been conducted in the 5+1 targeted states, and 50 competent CSOs have been engaged as implementing partners who have kick-started the implementation of year 1 activities.
- The Spotlight Programme is engaging the services of a consultant to orient and build capacity of the 5 state CSO Reference Groups, and support development of one (1) National and five (5) state work plans for the new Spotlight Civil Society Reference Group.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The purpose of this consultancy is to support the recruitment and on-boarding of state CSO Reference Groups, production of CSO Reference Group work plans.
- The selected Consultant is expected to travel to 6 locations (Adamawa, FCT, Lagos, Sokoto, Ebonyi and Cross River) to orient with the State Reference Group members and support the development of State Reference Group work plans.
- This will require the Consultant to undertake the following key tasks within the 30 days consultancy period.
Deliverables: Guided by the Spotlight Coordinator, the Consultant is expected to deliver the following products:
- Conduct orientation training on Spotlight Initiative for the State Civil Society members
- Assist and advise in the preparation of National and state Reference Group work plans
- Engage Spotlight focal points in Spotlight target states
- Support the project in the area of knowledge transfer and institutionalization
- Prepare an end of task progress report of the deliverables under his/her responsibility which includes analysis of programme implementation and advice for moving forward
