Working Group Coordinator (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) AT UN Migration Agency (IOM) Nigeria

Job description

A Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) coordination group was recently formed in Maiduguri, Nigeria. The purpose of the MHPSS coordination group is to bring together in one forum all the stakeholders working in the area of MHPSS with the view to enhancing the response to MHPSS needs of affected persons displaced by the ongoing crisis in North East Nigeria, and thus improving their access to quality services and support.
It aims to achieve this goal through enhanced coordination among MHPSS agencies, conducting a detailed mapping of MHPSS activities, sharing best practice, building capacities of MHPSS actors and partners in other priority sector working group, supporting the development of MHPSS policies and strengthening advocacy initiatives with the Government of Nigeria, the humanitarian community, civil society and donors. The MHPSS Coordination group reports to the Health Sector Working Group. The MHPSS working group is chaired by the Ministry of Health and will be co-chaired by a full-time coordinator housed within the International Organization for Migration. Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (Emergency Response) and the direct supervision of the Project Manager (Psychosocial), the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the coordination of the MHPSS working group activities, liaising with relevant clusters and MHPSS actors.
