We are recruiting to fill the position below: 

Job Title: Laboratory Analyst II (Toxicology / Toxicity)

Location: Lagos

Responsibilities

  • Conducting all technical aspects of toxicity testing or other similar projects
  • Performing aquatic toxicity testing on water, sediment, and other matrices
  • Maintaining test organism cultures
  • General lab maintenance activities
  • Microscopy
  • Data entry
  • Statistical analysis
  • Daily coordination with Lab Supervisor and other technicians
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Knowledge of common toxicity assays, general lab practices, and lab safety
  • Analysing laboratory data and preparing study reports
  • As-needed field support
Qualifications/ Skills
  • Degree in Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Marine or Aquatic Biology, Environmental Studies, Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Aquatic Sciences, Chemistry, Ecology or related field
  • The ideal candidate will have recent and prior experience conducting and overseeing aquatic assessment projects with an emphasis in aquatic toxicology or environmental monitoring programs with a focus on performing laboratory toxicity tests
  • Experience working in a toxicology laboratory
  • Key personal qualifications for this position include good interpersonal and communication skills, reliability, attention to detail, flexibility in schedule, the ability to follow written and verbal directions, and the ability to work both independently and within a team setting.
  • Familiarity with whole effluent toxicity testing methods and associated QA/QC procedures, and advanced statistical experience is desired
  • A positive attitude is an absolute necessity
  • Must have a sound understanding of toxicology/risk assessment principles/practices and the scientific basis for toxicity testing.
