    Since its creation in 2009, ALIMA has treated more than 3 million patients. Today ALIMA works in 10 countries in Western and Central Africa. In 2018 we plan to work in 41 projects including 10 research projects focusing on malnutrition, Ebola and Lassa fever. All of these projects will support national health authorities through more than 320 health facilities (including 28 hospitals and 294 health facilities). Alima intervenes in response to humanitarian crises and patients are at the heart of all our actions. We work in partnership whenever possible to ensure that our patients benefit from the best and most relevant expertise wherever it is, whether within their own country or in the rest of the world.
    ALIMA’S TEAM: more than 1800 people are currently working for ALIMA. The field teams, closest to the patients, receive their support from coordination teams generally based in the countries’ capitals. These receive support from the 3 desk teams and the emergency and opening team based at the operational headquarters in Dakar, Senegal. The Paris and New York teams are actively working to raise funds and represent ALIMA. The rest of the ALIMA Galaxy includes individuals and partner teams working on behalf of other organizations such as medical NGOs BEFEN, ALERT Health, SOS Doctors / KEOOGO, AMCP, research organizations PACCI and INSERM, Bordeaux or Copenhagen Universities, the INGO Solidarités International and many others.
    In Nigeria, ALIMA is running four health and nutrition projects in Borno State: Monguno, Baga and Maiduguri.
    ALIMA’s teams in Nigeria represent about 30 expatriate and 250 national staff.
    POST TYPOLOLGY
    Mission Location: Maiduguri, Nigeria with frequent travel to Abuja and to project location
    MAIN OBJECTIVES
    The Senior Grants Manager will be in charge of securing funding from donors and grant management with donors. He/She will work under the supervision of the Head of Mission, and work directly with the existing Grants Manager.
    The Senior Grants Manager is responsible for maintaining the relationship with donors and securing fundings for ongoing and planned projects. He is part of the operational coordination team. He supports project development for submitting strong proposal to donors, in accordance with ALIMA operational strategy and donors requirements.
    The Senior Grants Manager will overview grant management with donors and with the field teams according to grant requirement.
    At the headquarter level, the Grants Manager will report to the geographic desk in charge of Nigeria, and especially to the Desk Donors Manager.
    MAIN ACTIVITIES
  • Maintain relationship with donors and secure funding for the projects
  • The Senior Grants Manager will actively research funding opportunities for the projects and the mission, including future projects, by maintaining a good knowledge of ALIMAs operations and the humanitarian context, by maintaining relationships with humanitarian actors on a local level and by maintaining a good relationship with donors and a good knowledge of donors strategy and process, including donors not funding ALIMA.
  • Deliver concept notes and proposal according to operational strategy and support project development
  • The Senior Grants Manager will work with the operational team to support project development to write strong concept notes and proposal for donors. Concept Notes and Proposal will include strong technical and operational analysis, demonstrate good knowledge of context and risk, present sound strategic vision and be coherent with budget.
  • Monitoring and follow up of contractual requirement and support to Project team
  • The Senior Grants Manager will work with Project Coordinators to provide information regarding donors regulation and contractual requirement, and to make sure that operations and engagement toward donors are aligned, or be able to propose contractual modification to donors if operational plans changes.
    The Senior Grants Manager will be directly involve in data monitoring and will have to make sure that data requested by donors and monitoring commitment are respected. He will support the coordination team in making sure data are complete and reliable, and data management tools are understood and used.
  • Deliver Narratives report according to contractual requirement and with strong operational monitoring, within deadlines
  • The Senior Grants manager will work with the operational team to write and/or support the grant manager to write precise, detailed, and clear report, according to donors requirement and format and within deadlines.
  • Ensure relationship with donors regarding grant management, including contractual requirement
  • The Senior Grants Manager will be responsible for all grant management for the country, along with the Finance Coordinator for budget follow up.
    Experience And Skills
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
    • Ability to work effectively within a team and be a good communicator
    • Rigorous and motivated for fulfilling objectives
    • Recognition of ALIMA values and chartre
    • French/English bilingual required (or English as a native language and advanced level in French)
    • Master degree (or equivalent) in relevant field (development studies, project manager, public health, international relationship, business school …)
    • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in relation to the position, including work experience with NGO, UN agency or donors in humanitarian setting.
    • Work experience in an humanitarian / unsecure setting
    CONDITIONS
    Contract term: contract under French law, 6 months’ renewable
    Salary: depending on experience + per diem

    • medical cover from the first day of the contract to a month after the date of departure from the mission country for the employee
