Description
The Oyo State Board of Internal Revenue is a State Revenue Agency that derives its existence from the Personal Income Tax Act Law of the Federation 2004, which stipulates the establishment of the "The Board of Internal Revenue" by all the States of the Federation.
The Oyo State Edict of 1996 established the Board to carry out the functions of assessing, collecting and accounting for taxes, levies and fees with the additional responsibility of tax policy formation for the state.
Job Descriptions
In keeping with the mandate for the OYIRS, the Oyo State Government is seeking individuals with common dedication who are high-achieving, highly dynamic and innovative with proven target driven orientation to fill this position in the newly established OYIRS:
- Co-ordination of Tax Station for Effective and Efficient Functioning, Monitors tax station performance for audit and compliance work, Undertakes inspection programme and tax administration, Informal Sector operations, Other Taxes; Stamp Duties, Withholding Taxes, Oversees Taxpayers Appeals, Confirmation of tax status of individuals, Relationship Management Unit and High Net worth Unit
Key Responsibilities
- Directors are responsible for development of current and long tern goals as well as policies and procedures of their Directorate.
- Successful candidate for the post of Director, shall be responsible for putting in place in his/her directorate sound organizational, administrative, financial and managerial structure.
- Be very conversant with extant revenue laws (Oyo State and Federal) and other relevant laws.

- Must demonstrate high ethical standards and fiduciary duty.
- The incumbents will view and possess significant confidential information relating to Oyo State Government, tax payers, staff and other stakeholders.
- High levels of discretion, integrity and judgment are required.
- This cadre of staff are expected to exhibit Keen analytic, sound Knowledge of the economic, social- political environment of Nigeria in general and Oyo State in particular and decision making factors, Personal credibility and integrity, Self-confidence and respect for others, regardless of position, and willingness to work as a team member/leader.
- Demonstrates ability to be an effective leader in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Basic Requirements
- A Bachelor or Master's Degree in Accounting, Law, Economics, Banking & Finance, Statistics, or other relevant discipline in the quantitative field Or
- A Higher National Diploma in Accounting, Economics, Banking & Finance, Statistics , or other relevant discipline in the quantitative field.
Professional Qualification
Membership In Any Of The Following Accountancy Bodies Or Their Recognized Equivalents
- Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN)
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
- Institute of Cost and Management Accountants (ICMA) UK and
- Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN)
Professional Experience
- 15 years, and 10 years of this experience must have been in an executive managerial, administrative or supervisory capacity.
- Supervision must have included, supervising staff performing professional work in the areas described above.
- Age: Not Above 45 years
