WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week
SALARY: OR Ordinarily Resident (OR) – N7,731,239 p.a.
(Starting basic salary) Position Grade: FSN – 09

In addition to the basic salary, all allowances will be paid in accordance with the Mission Local Compensation Plan.

Basic Function Of The Position

Under the supervision of the Public Affairs Officer (PAO), the incumbent identifies vets, administers, manages monitors, closes out, assesses effectiveness of, and generates grant programs funded by CVE monies. Target audiences are largely youth, interfaith, and vulnerable communities. She/he conducts grant writing and grants management workshops for potential grantees; tracks CVE funding streams, coordinating with the Financial Management Office, Public Affairs Section budget specialist, and program offices in Washington; convenes quarterly meetings with donors and other stakeholders to organize forums and coordinate programming efforts.

  • University Degree in Social Sciences or Liberal arts is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in program management, development projects, and grant management is required.
  • Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading and writing in English Language is required Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading and writing in Hausa Language is required. Language proficiency will be tested.
  • Incumbent must have extensive knowledge of Nigeria political, economic, and social structures as well as an understanding of federal ministries and state agencies related to CVE.
  • Thorough knowledge of NGOs, religious, ethnic, and academic communities operating in northern Nigeria relating to CVE and broad knowledge of public diplomacy programs, including American Corner programming, is required.
  • Ability to initiate, implement, expand multifaceted solutions that address violent extremism in northern Nigeria and plan coordinated efforts between various levels of society (i.e. policy makers, community structures, etc.) towards a sustainable CVE agenda in Nigeria; proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
